[origin: EP2189291A2] The device has an optical sensor (25) which is designed to read a code provided on the respective label roll (21), particularly a respective label (27), which consists of ink that is transparent in the spectral region visible for humans, and to read the comprised data. The device is designed for automatically adjusting or selecting an applicable print depending on the read data. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a device for processing label rolls, receipt rolls and labels of different kinds, particularly for printing labels.
