[origin: EP2192731A1] A method is disclosed for performing data traffic control for a tree network, the tree network comprising nodes arranged and connected to each other according to a tree topology, comprising a root node and at least two leaf nodes, the root node being connected to each of the leaf nodes, wherein the method comprises: - measuring the available bandwidth at at least one non-leaf node; - based on this measurement, allocating allowable bandwidth information for each of the direct child nodes of the non-leaf node; - distributing allowable bandwidth information over nodes which are positioned downstream from said non-leaf node. Also network nodes adapted for performing the method have been disclosed.
