[origin: WO2009043789A1] Different sensors such as laser scanners (32) and video cameras (35) are first mounted securely onto a common substrate (30) and calibrated to each other. This considerably simplifies subsequent calibration of the resultant multi-sensor system (11) at the employment site. The incorporation of a video camera which is precalibrated in this manner, makes possible the automatic, computerized extraction of the location of the tracks from the video picture of the video camera when using a loading crane system (10). Thus, the need for manually positioned calibration elements is eliminated. This reduces faults in ongoing operation during activation of the multi-sensor system.
