[origin: WO2009033838A1] The invention relates to a load interrupter which comprises a housing and a cover that is hinged thereto, a snap switch mechanism for establishing or interrupting an electrical connection between corresponding contacts, and a control lever for switching on and off, a release element and a blocking mechanism, the release element being controlled via the blocking mechanism to release the cover. According to the invention, the release element is coupled to a locking device for locking the cover and can be actuated, in the switch-off position of the control lever, while displacing the locking device. The load interrupter further comprises a lock device which can be adjusted in such a manner that it can be engaged with or disengaged from the locking device.
