Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009047025A1] The present invention relates to a user equipment (401), a base station (403) and methods for enabling providing fast access to a dedicated UL resource between the base station (403) and the UE (401) for data transmissions, by using a UE identifier. The UE (401) may receive configuration parameters (step 302, S-402) of a set of common UL resources from the base station (403), transmit a random access request (step 304, step S-404, 508, 810; 712, 910) for a common UL resources of said set of common UL resources to said base station (403), obtain allocation of said common resource (step 306, S-408, 514, 718, 720, 812, 912) of said set from said base station (403), and transmit a UE (401) identifier (step 308, S-410) to said base station on said common resource (520, 814; 728, 918), wherein the UE identifier indicates a previously used set of configuration parameters for a dedicated resource. The UL set-up delays may be reduced and the network performance as well as the end-user quality of experience improved.
