[origin: EP2198750A1] A relaxation apparatus (10) includes a body-supporting unit (13) for supporting a user's body, a rocking unit (12) for rocking the body-supporting unit back and forth and a controller (24) for controlling the rocking unit to rock the body-supporting unit. The rocking unit includes a driving unit (20) for generating driving force for rocking the body-supporting unit and a transmission mechanism (21) for transmitting the driving force from the driving unit. The rocking unit is provided on a base of the relaxation apparatus. Further, the transmission mechanism is configured such that an acting force from the body-supporting unit to the driving unit is self-locked.
