Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009037173A1] The rope grab for a fall protection system is guided along a rope (S). If a user falls, the rope grab (10) is clamped on the rope (S). The rope grab comprises a guiding mechanism (14) for the rope (S), a rotatably mounted clamping lever that has a cam at a first end and a stop point (24) at a second end, and a slide for opening and at least partially closing a gap (38) of the guiding mechanism (14), the rope grab being placed on the rope through said gap (38). The slide is preloaded in the first position which at least partially closes the gap (38). The gap (38) is dimensioned such that the rope grab (10) can circumvent intermediate fastening devices (70) of the rope. The rope grab also comprises a first locking mechanism which blocks the slide in the first position that at least partially closes the gap (38) and which can be released in order to allow the slide to be moved into a second position in which the gap (38) is open.
