[origin: WO2009087311A1] The invention relates to an authentication system (1) including: one or more personal authentication devices (3, 4); a terminal (2) including biometric means (5, 6) adapted for generating biometric information of a user; wireless communication means (7) adapted for transmitting the biometric information to the personal authentication device (3, 4) without any contact between the personal authentication device (3, 4) and the terminal (2); the one or each personal authentication device (3, 4) including: a memory (10) for storing biometric information of the holder of the personal authentication device (3, 4); a processing means (11) for comparing the biometric information and the biometric data so as to authenticate a user; characterised in that the wireless communication means (7) is adapted for transmitting the biometric information to a plurality of personal authentication devices, each of the personal authentication devices (3, 4) including a wireless communication means (8) for the contactless transmission to the terminal (2) of positive authentication data in case of a positive comparison between the biometric information and the biometric data enabling the authentication of the user, and wherein the terminal is adapted so as to open a transaction session only with the personal device(s) having transmitted positive authentication data.
