[origin: EP2202464A2] The hob (106) has an upper carrier element (40) i.e. hob top panel, in which a cooking area (20) is arranged. A lower carrier element (50) i.e. hob body, is connected with the upper carrier element, and has a front wall (52), a rear wall (54) and side walls (56, 58) extending vertical to the upper carrier element. The side walls connect the front and rear walls with each other, and a reinforcing element (16) i.e. rail, extends from one of the side walls to the other side wall for reinforcing the hob. The reinforcing element extends horizontally for stabilizing the upper carrier element.
