Abstract (en)
An underbelly (14) for an armored vehicle (10) is provided, configured for providing ballistic protection against a detonation of an explosive device detonated substantially therebelow. The underbelly (14) comprises a central portion (20) having a lowermost area (18), sidewalls (22) extending upwardly therefrom, the central portion (20) and sidewalls (18) constituting a main armor of the underbelly (14), and an auxiliary armor panel (30) disposed so as to project downwardly from the lowermost area (18) of the central portion (20). Upper portions of the sidewalls (22) are free of any auxiliary armor panel (30).
