[origin: WO2009101277A2] The invention relates to a method for crimping an insert (10) to be crimped into a substrate (16), using an application apparatus including an anvil, and in an area where the substrate (16) includes first and second stacked panels (17, 18) and at a distance from each other, wherein the stem (12) is axially inserted into the substrate (16) and the anvil is brought against the distal end of the stem (12), the second segment is axially compressed against the anvil for forming a first bearing ledge (22), the axial compression of the second segment is continued in order to form a crimping bead (23) defining, together with the bearing ledge (22), an anchoring groove (24) surrounding the second panel (8), and the axial compression of the second segment is continued in order to generate a clamping of the substrate (16) between the bearing head (11) and the bearing ledge (22), together with a clamping of the second panel (18) between the bearing ledge (22) and the crimping bead (23).
