Abstract (en)

A washing machine according to the present invention is capable of cleaning water to be used in a laundry process while performing the laundry process. A water circulation passage through which water is circulated from a washing tub (3) includes a first water circulation passage (55), a second water circulation passage (57), a U-turn portion (26) and a third water circulation passage (59). A venturi tube (58) is connected to the U-turn portion (26) and the third water circulation passage (59). Ozone-containing cleaning air is supplied to the venturi tube (58) through an air tube (61). The water circulated through the water circulation passage is guided to a position higher than the level (72) of water retained in an outer tub (4) through the second water circulation passage (57), and then caused to swiftly flow down from an upper side through the venturi tube (58) at the position higher than the water level (72). Therefore, the cleaning air supplied from the air tube (61) can be efficiently taken into the circulated water in the venturi tube (58). Thus, the circulated water can be advantageously cleaned.
