Abstract (en)
[origin: CA2703195A1] The compression of ballast (2) of a rail track (3) takes place after two-stage cleaning by means of a cleaning machine (4). For this purpose, cleaned ballast is dispensed and a first ballast layer (29) is thereby formed. The rail track (3) which is laid on said first ballast layer (29) has lateral oscillations imparted to it by a front stabilization unit (24), and the first ballast layer (29) is thereby compressed. The formation of a second ballast layer (30) takes place by means of a second chute (25), which second ballast layer (30) is subsequently compressed by means of a rear stabilization unit (18).
