[origin: WO2009065160A2] The invention relates to a cutting tool, in particular a rotationally used cutting tool for machining wood. Said cutting tool comprises a body with a covering consisting of one or several layers that are applied at least in the regions of the surface of the body, or is formed from said coated body. According to the invention, in order to reduce adhesiveness during a cutting process and to obtain a high level of resistance to corrosion, the outermost layer of the coating is made of an oxide, oxynitride or an oxycarbonitride of one or more of the following metals: titanium, zirconium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten.
