The plate (4) has a plate part and another plate part (3) pivotably connected with each other by a hinge element (21). Inner narrow edges (9, 10) of the plate parts face towards each other. Decorative layers (14, 15) are provided at visible sides (16, 17) of the plate parts. Colored cover layers (12, 13) are provided on the decorative layers adjacent to the narrow edges. The decorative layers are formed by laminate coating, color application and/or paint application. The visible sides adjacent to the narrow edges are chamfered or rounded in directions of the narrow edges. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a foldable plate. The plate is made of wood or wood composite.

Dargestellt und beschreiben ist eine faltbare Platte (4,4'), insbesondere aus einem Holzwerkstoff oder aus Holz, mit wenigstens zwei voneinander getrennten Plattenteilen (2,3;2',3'), die jeweils eine Sichtseite (16,17;16',17'), wenigstens eine innere Schmalkante (9,10;9',10') und eine Rückseite (22) aufweisen, und mit einem die beiden Plattenteile (2,3;2',3') schwenkbar miteinander verbindenden Scharnierelement (21), wobei die inneren Schmalkanten (9,10;9',10') bei auseinandergefalteten Plattenteilen (2,3;2',3') einander zugewandt sind und wobei die Plattenteile (2,3;2',3') an der Sichtseite (16,17;16',17') eine Dekorschicht (14,15;14',15') aufweisen. Um den Aufwand zur Fertigung der faltbaren Platte zu verringern, ohne dass die Qualität des optischen Eindrucks der faltbaren Platte im auseinandergefalteten Zustand beeinträchtigt wird, ist vorgesehen, dass auf der Dekorschicht (14,15;14',15') wenigstens eines Plattenteils (2,3;2',3') angrenzend zur inneren Schmalkante (9,10;9',10') des Plattenteils (2,3;2',3') eine gefärbte Deckschicht (12,13;12',13') vorgesehen ist.
