Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2448564A] A light guide device 1 comprises a base structure 2 with a first refractive index onto which light sources 3, preferably LED, are mounted and encapsulated within a first light guide 4 with a second refractive index which is equal to or less than the first refractive index of the base 2; a second light guide layer 6 with a refractive index greater than or equal to that of the base 2 is attached above the first light guide layer such that light scattering reflective structures 5 are positioned above the light sources 3 to prevent light emitted from light sources 3 directly shining towards the position of a viewing person whose line and direction of sight is shown 11. Further light scattering structures 7 made preferably of microstructures or ink dots from may be included on the base 2. The method of manufacture of the device is independently claimed.
