The unit has a liquid-cooled driving motor (6) whose front side is connected with a shaft journal of a component which is to be driven by a coupling element (8), and a torque bracket (9). A protective cover (7) seals the unit against the climate within a drying hood. The protective cover is made of insulating material. The protective cover encloses the motor and/or a transmission. The coupling element is arranged between the shaft journal and the unit. Additional cooling fluid i.e. air, is provided between the cover and the unit.

Erfindungsgemäß wird vorgeschlagen die Antriebseinheit (5) innerhalb einer Trockenhaube oder dergleichen, zum Antrieb für drehende Bauteile, wie Walzen und Zylinder einer Maschine zur Herstellung und/oder Bearbeitung einer laufenden Materialbahn, insbesondere aus Papier oder Karton, so zu gestallten, dass die Antriebseinheit (5) mittels einer Schutzhülle (7) gegenüber den Klima innerhalb der Trockenhaube abgekapselt ist und der Antriebsmotor (6) mit einer Fluidkühlung (11), wie einer Wasser- oder Ölkühlung ausgestattet ist.
