[origin: WO2009077336A1] The invention relates to a laundry drying device (1), having a drum housing (2) comprising a laundry drum (3) received therein and a process air channel (4, 9) that is fluid-connected to the drum housing (2), wherein an autonomous heat accumulator (8) is disposed in or on the process air channel (4, 9). For this purpose the laundry drying device (1) has a fluid dispenser (15) for applying fluid to the heat accumulator (8). The invention further relates to a method for drying laundry, wherein process air is conducted via an autonomous heat accumulator (8) disposed in or on a process air channel (4), wherein fluid is applied to the heat accumulator (8) for cooling the heat accumulator (8).
