[origin: GB2455553A] An axial flow fan comprises a motor 38 arranged within an outer casing 30 and mounted thereto by at least one support arm 40, the, or each, support arm 40 comprising an elongate vane extending between the motor 38 and an inner wall of the casing 30. A connection between the, or each, vane 40 and the motor 38 may allow the angle of the vane 40 to be varied with respect to the direction of air flow through the fan. The connection may comprise an arcuate slot defining a plurality of angular orientations at which the vane 40 may be mounted. The angle of the profile of the, or each, vane 40 may vary along its length, the vane 40 preferably being twisted. There may be means provided to connect the, or each, vane 40 to the motor at a plurality of distances from an impeller 34 of the fan.
