[origin: WO2009083140A1] The invention relates to a device for accepting and dispensing or returning bank notes by means of a compartment for accepting and dispensing or returning several bank notes forming a stack, comprising a transport device rotatably supported within the compartment by means of a bearing in the device for transporting the stack of bank notes in a receiving direction or a dispensing direction between positions, in which the bank notes are partially or completely located in the compartment, a separator for separating the bank notes, and a transport system receives the bank notes that were separated by the separator and feeding them to a processor. The transport device comprises three parts, wherein a first and a second part of the transport device or the second part and a third part of the transport device interact for the transport of bank notes, and wherein the second part of the transport device divides the compartment into a first partial compartment for accepting bank notes and a second partial compartment for dispensing or returning bank notes.
