Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2009079989A2] The invention relates to a method for fixing an annular element (6) on a piston (1) for an internal combustion engine. According to said method: the annular element (6) is screwed onto the piston base body (4) by means of a thread (5) that is on the radial outer surface of part (23) of the piston base (9); a continuous groove (24) that is open at the top is formed in the piston base (9) in the region of the thread (5); the groove (24) is filled with solder material (26); the piston (1) is heated until the solder material (26) liquefies and flows through the thread pitch of the thread (5); the piston (1) is subsequently cooled. This produces a secure screw connection between the piston base body (4) and the annular element (6). In addition, the cooling channel (14) is sealed against the high-pressure combustion gases that act on the piston base (9).
