[origin: WO2009083126A1] In valuable document processing machines, valuable documents, for example banknotes, cheques, etc., are conveyed along one or more sensors by a transport system. The banknotes guided past the sensors at least temporarily touch the sensor surface. In order to improve transport, the sensor surface, past which the banknotes are transported, is provided with a multiplicity of elevations or depressions. The structured sensor surface reduces the friction between the sensor surface and the valuable document being transported past said sensor, with the result that transport of the valuable document is stabilized and the susceptibility to jams is reduced.
