Abstract (en)

A fireproof roll (1, 9) for making fire-break joints, comprising a core (2, 10) of rock fibres (4) and a high temperature-resistant outer envelope (3, 13), in which the core also contains a smaller amount of high temperature-resistant, curly support fibres (5) with a length of at least 40 mm (intimately mixed with (4)), the two types (4; 5) being in the form of one or more carded tapes (11) parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction (L) of the roll (1, 9). An independent claim is included for a method for making a fireproof roll as described above, by (a) carding a mixture of the two types of fibre (4; 5) to form carded tape (11) and (b) feeding one or more tapes in parallel onto a sheathing machine so as to cover the core (2, 10) formed by the assembled tapes.
