[origin: EP2230650A1] The device has a transport device (1) for transport of goods in a preset transport direction (4). An optical imaging device (2) e.g. optical camera, is arranged at the transport device in a fixed manner for recording images of the goods transported to the transport device. A scanning device (3) is arranged at the transport device in a fixed manner for detection of machine readable codes. A weighing machine (9) is arranged in the transport direction after the scanning device. A handheld-scanning device (10) e.g. hand scanner, is arranged adjacent to the transport device. An independent claim is also included for a method for registering goods in a self-service cash register system.
