Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009080784A1] A system for the treatment of urge incontinence by electrical stimulation of pudendal nerve afferents (108; 110) includes an implantable electrode (116) configured to be placed at a pudendal nerve or its branches (108; 110). An implantable pulse generator (118) having a pulse-generating circuitry and a battery for powering the pulse generator (118) provides electrical pulses to the electrode (116). The implantable pulse generator (118) is configured to receive wirelessly transmitted control signals and to provide the electrical pulses. A user- operable triggering mechanism (122) is configured to transmit an inductive wireless control signal to the implantable pulse generator (118) in order to trigger generation of electrical pulses. A skin-borne device (160) may be provided for transmitting the inductive wireless control signal to the pulse generator (118), and a user activatable device (162) may be provided for transmitting a wireless radio frequency signal to the skin-borne device (160) upon user activation.
