[origin: EP2233651A1] The device (1) has a toilet bowl (2) with an inlet (3) and an outlet (18). A pulse generating unit is arranged between the inlet and the outlet in a U-bend (4). The pulse generating unit accelerates water, present in the U-bend and forming an air trap, for flushing operation in the direction of the outlet. The pulse generating unit exhibits a set of nozzles (12) or an annular gap that extends in a circumferential direction of the U-bend. The nozzles or the annular gap generate a flow in the water, where the flow is directed towards the outlet. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a flushing device.
