The device (100) has a air supply line (20) comprising a compressed air supply line inlet end (22) and a compressed air supply line outlet end (21), where the inlet end is connected with a compressed air generation unit. A fuel line (30) comprises a fuel line inlet end (32) and a fuel line outlet end (31), where the fuel line inlet end is connected with a fuel reservoir. The compressed air supply line outlet end and the fuel line outlet end are arranged such that compressed air (24) flowing from the compressed air supply line outlet end, and fuel from the fuel line outlet end are atomized. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a boiler comprising a combustion chamber and an inlet opening (2) a method for spraying liquid fuel i.e. oil (3) a method for operating the boiler for the liquid fuel i.e. oil.

Um eine möglichst einfach aufgebaute Zerstäubungsvorrichtung zur Zerstäubung flüssiger Brennstoffe, insbesondere Heizöl, für einen Heizkessel für flüssige Brennstoffe, die auch bei kleinen Feuerungsleistungen eine gute Zerstäubungsqualität aufweist, zu erhalten, ist vorgesehen, dass die Zerstäubungsvorrichtung eine Druckluftleitung mit einem Druckluftleitungseintrittsende, welches mit einer Drucklufterzeugungseinrichtung verbindbar ist, und mit einem Druckluftleitungsaustrittsende sowie eine Brennstoffleitung mit einem Brennstoffleitungseintrittsende, welches mit einem Brennstoffreservoir verbindbar ist, und mit einem Brennstoffleitungsaustrittsende umfasst, wobei die Brennstoffleitung unter geringerem Druck steht als die Druckluftleitung, und wobei das Druckluftleitungsaustrittsende und das Brennstoffleitungsaustrittsende derart zueinander angeordnet sind, dass eine aus dem Druckluftleitungsaustrittsende austretende Druckluftströmung aus dem Brennstoffleitungsaustrittsende austretenden Brennstoff erfasst und zerstäubt.
