[origin: WO2009081036A2] The invention relates to an apparatus for cleaning a submerged surface, that comprises a hollow body (1), members (2, 3, 4) for driving said body (1) on a submerged surface in a longitudinal direction, including a wheel (2), a submerged-surface brushing device (4), a mechanism for rotating the brushing device (4) about a brushing axis, characterised in that the mechanism for driving the brushing device (4) includes: a crown (5) with an inner teeth gear connected to a wheel (2), a brush sprocket (42) connected to the brushing device (4) and meshing with said crown (5) of said driving wheel (2) such that a rotation of the driving wheel (2) results in a rotation of the brushing device (4) about its brushing axis and in the same direction.
