[origin: WO2009097833A1] The invention relates to a material for shielding from radiation, especially radioactive radiation, in particular ß rays and ? rays, X rays, and neutron radiation. The shielding material consists of a heavy metal-polymer mixture, the heavy metal being preferably used in the form of powder and/or granulate. Bismuth and/or iron and/or barite are used as heavy metals. The heavy metal powder and/or granulate is mixed with a binder, particularly epoxy resin or silicone, and can then be used for manufacturing many different products and objects, such as bricks, partitions, coatings, containers, plaster, shielding aprons, covers, films, etc.
