[origin: WO2009097835A1] The invention relates to a method for producing metal powders and to metal powders thereby produced. The aim of the invention is to provide methods which allow metal powders to be produced a low cost from metal oxides the properties of which allow various uses. The method according to the invention is characterized by subjecting a metal oxide powder in a first step to a heat treatment in a reducing hydrogen atmosphere, the metal oxide being reduced. The temperature is then increased in a second step of the heat treatment and this temperature is maintained over a period, thereby possibly reducing the specific surface of the metal powder obtained previously by reduction.
