[origin: EP2243717A1] The guard (2) has a protective strip (4) that is made of flexible material for temporarily protecting a circulating edge of an article. The strip has snatching units (8, 8') that are snatchable during matching of free ends of the strip by pressing the ends one against each other. The units have snatching projections (14, 14') that engage snatching recesses (18, 18') in the strip in sections. The projections are formed in the type of nose. The strip is made of plastic as a single piece. The projections are formed at an inner side and/or an outer side of the strip in the snatching position.
