[origin: WO2009100926A1] The invention relates to a chair base for caster high chairs, predominantly office high chairs. A high chair (e.g. counter height chair) is a swivel chair having a higher seating surface, such as is used in offices and along production lines. A substantial characteristic of the high chair is the climbing aid (or foot supporting surface). In accordance with DIN 68877 every high chair having a seating height > 650 mm has to be equipped with a climbing aid. The feet of the user do not touch ground in the normal seated position. High chairs are inter alia used for seated/standing-up work stations with a fixed work surface height. Prototypes have been developed in the prior art to prevent the high chair from inadvertently rolling away by means of guide rails and the like, approaches of this kind, however, have not proven to be reliable in practical use.
