[origin: WO2009103798A1] The application relates to cationic compounds of formula (Ia) where R1 to R9 and X- are defined as indicated in claim 1. Said compounds, some of which have not yet been described in the prior art, are suitable for coloring keratinous fibers, in particular human hair. In dyes of these compounds, extreme, intensive color nuances, in particular in the blue and violet range, are obtained with very good fastness properties. When simultaneously using oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and peroxydisulfates, these direct dyes also provide illuminating nuances without reducing the color intensity and color brilliance.
