[origin: WO2009112095A1] A crash-resistant front apron for a rail vehicle having: an apron cover (23), a first support part (9) which supports the apron cover (23); a second support part (10) which is attached to the frame (16) of the rail vehicle; a friction coupling release mechanism (11) which during operation connects the first support part (9) to the second support part (10) by a friction connection, and which releases the friction connection in the event of a crash in which a collision force (21) acting on the front apron cover (23) causes the torsion of the first support part (9) relative to the second support part (10).
