[origin: EP2251197A2] The printing machine has printing units (12, 14, 16) arranged one behind the other in a rolling direction of a material web (10). Loop guide chambers (58, 58', 78) are arranged upstream to one of the printing units and arranged downstream to another printing unit. The material web moves along shaft walls of the loop guide chambers. The loop guide chambers are equipped with photocells when length of the material web is less than a predetermined minimum target length or greater than a predetermined maximum target length.
