[origin: EP2251884A2] The device (1) has an accommodating device (3) comprising a sectionally curved recess (5) in which an operating knob (2) is positioned. The knob is movable relative to the accommodating device in the positioned condition for adjusting operating conditions of a household appliance i.e. hob. The knob in the recess is rotatable around a longitudinal axis (A), and is tiltable from its normal position in the recess, where the operating conditions are detectable and adjustable by magnetic interaction of magnets (7-11, 14) of the knob and the recess during positioning and/or movement of the knob.
