[origin: WO2009076685A1] An actuating mechanism (5) for moving a highly movable flap (4) of a piece of furniture (1), comprising a main body (5a) intended for attachment to a furniture body (3), wherein an actuating arm (6) for moving the flap (4) is mounted at one end on a bearing axis (A) of the main body (5a) and at the other end on a bearing axis (B) of a fitting part (9) intended for attachment to the flap (4), and wherein an additional control arm (7) for moving the flap (4) is provided, wherein during the movement of the control arm (6) the effective lever arm length (L) of the control arm (7) can be varied, and the effective lever arm length (L) of the control arm (7) is shortened when opening the actuating arm (6).
