[origin: EP2253752A2] The device (32) has a roll retaining device (34) in which a set of material rolls (24, 26, 28, 36, 38, 40) is storable, where the rolls are rotatably supported in holders (42) of the roll retaining device. Workpiece layers (16, 18, 20) of a large-area work piece i.e. bed sheet, are drawn from the rolls, made of a flexible material i.e. foam, and are alternatively fed from the retaining device to a sewing device of a sewing machine (14) i.e. multi-needle sewing machine. Another set of material rolls (92, 94) is supported in another roll retaining device (22) directly adjacent to the machine. An independent claim is also included for a method for feeding workpiece layers from a supplying device to a sewing machine.
