[origin: WO2009103179A1] In order to prevent an object from being opened in a securing device, which is designed to be disposed around an object to be secured, such as a cardboard box, wherein the device comprises a cable (20) for arrangement around the object to be secured, a housing (70) having a mechanism, which can be blocked in an unwinding direction, for winding up the cable (20) from the two ends thereof, and an insertion part (80) on a loop-shaped center section of the cable (20) disposed outside the housing (70), it is provided according to the invention that only one cable (20) is present, that the winding mechanism is spring tensioned in the winding direction, that the insertion part (80) can be inserted to engage into the housing (70), and that the blocking of the winding mechanism in the unwinding direction can only be released using a special tool.
