[origin: WO2009103458A2] The invention relates to a cooling device having a lighting device disposed outside the cooling chamber, said lighting device being disposed in the region of an upper horizontally oriented wall section of the cooling chamber, wherein the light emitted by a light source illuminates the access opening to the cooling chamber and/or a pulled-out drawer utilizing light beams that are substantially directed vertically toward the bottom. In order to configure a cooling device having a lighting device (1) to be disposed outside the cooling chamber in a space-saving manner, by means of which the region of the access opening and/or a freezer drawer can be optimally illuminated, the lighting device (1) comprises a group of successively disposed light emitting diodes (2) as the light source, with which a fiber optic light guide element having an optical structure is associated in the light emitting direction, said structure being configured such that the light radiation forms a beam path expanding toward the bottom in the manner of a fan.
