Abstract (en)
[origin: US2009223258A1] A padlock includes a lock body, shackle, locking mechanism and latch member. The latch member includes a laterally outermost shackle engaging portion that lockingly engages a recess in the shackle when the locking mechanism is in a locked condition and is disengageable from the recess when the locking mechanism is in an unlocked condition. The latch member is sized such that upward facing surfaces of the latch member that align with a circumferential edge of a shackle opening are limited to a notch laterally aligned with a laterally innermost portion of the circumferential edge when the shackle engaging portion is in a normal locking engagement with the recess.
