[origin: WO2009118058A1] The invention relates to a camera unit, in particular for use in a vehicle, which features: an interconnect device (2) with an interconnect device front side (2a) and an interconnect device rear side (2b), an image sensor (3) which is arranged on the interconnect device front side (2a), a plug connector (14) for contacting and for mechanical holding of a mating plug (28), in particular of a cable tree of a vehicle, wherein the plug connector (14) features several plug contacts (16), wherein the plug contacts (16) rest against the interconnect device rear side (2b) and are contacted on the interconnect device rear side (2b), and a plug housing (15) of the plug connector (14) is secured to the interconnect device (2).  Thus the plug housing (15) can surround an edge region (2c) of the interconnect device (2) and support a support unit (6) for a lens unit on the front side (2a).
