[origin: EP2258542A2] The apparatus has a press box (2) comprising a charging door, press plate (3), which is connected to a press drive (5) and retractable in initial position, and a lockable, outlet opening (7) for compressed bales. A trolley is coupled at the opening of the press box for bales. A pushing device, which is directed transverse to the press drive and separated from the press drive, is provided on a side, which is opposite to the opening, of the press box. The pushing device cooperates with the press plate as a guide for the bales.
