[origin: EP2258987A2] The house appliance has a screen (10) with touch input units (12) on a screen surface, and a control unit (14), which is designed to evaluate the contact signals of the touch input units and to operate the house appliance depending on the touch signals. A switching element (16) is separated from the screen for activating or deactivating a function of the house appliance. The screen is switched on and off over another switching element during the operation of the house appliance.
