Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2009109154A1] The invention relates to a sectional tailgate (37) for a vehicle, comprising a top part (38) that is pivotally arranged on the vehicle body (5), a bottom part (7) which is pivotally arranged on the top part (38), a first locking mechanism (35) for coupling the top part (38) of the tailgate (37) to the vehicle body for a first open position of the tailgate, a second locking mechanism (36) for coupling the top part (38) and the bottom part (7) of the tailgate (37) to each other to form a unit for a second open position of the tailgate, and an actuator (18) that acts on a locking mechanism (35, 36). In order to design a tailgate comprising locking mechanisms for a first and second open position which operate effectively and allow for a great degree of variability in terms of the installation space, a control lever (2) is provided which is moved by means of the actuator (18), acts as a locking element for the first locking mechanism (35), and controls a lever system (2) that is part of the second locking mechanism (36).
