[origin: WO2009109147A1] The invention relates to a sectional tailgate (47) for a vehicle, comprising a top part (48) that is pivotally arranged on the vehicle body (10, 110, 210, 310, 410), and a bottom part (2) which is pivotally arranged on the top part (48). Said tailgate (47) further comprises a first locking mechanism (15, 115, 215, 315, 415, 515) for coupling the top part (48) of the tailgate (47) to the vehicle body (10, 110, 210, 310, 410) for a first open position of the tailgate, and a second locking mechanism (16, 116, 216, 316, 416, 516) for coupling the top part (48) and the bottom part (2) of the tailgate (47) to each other to form a unit for a second open position of the tailgate. Furthermore, at least one actuator (11, 111, 211, 311, 411 ) is provided that acts on at least one locking mechanism (15, 115, 215, 315, 415, 515; 16, 116, 216, 316, 416, 516). In order to design such a tailgate that operates effectively and requires a small number of components, at least one locking mechanism (15, 215, 515; 16, 116, 216, 316, 416, 516) encompasses a rocker-type element (4, 104, 204, 304, 404, 504) which can be moved between a first and a second final position (ES1, ES2) and has a locking effect in at least one of the final positions.
