[origin: WO2009115375A1] A device (2) for the production of fancy yarns, comprising a ring spinner (8), has one or more differential drives (21) for the variable control of the rotational speeds of drawing systems of a ring spinner (8) in order to achieve variable drawing of a yarn. The control unit (1) for operating the differential drives (21) has a housing (41) and at least one power electronics module (43) disposed in the housing. The housing (41) has a closed configuration in order to protect the housing interior (402) from harmful influences of the environment, such as dust. A cooling device for the dissipation of thermal energy that is generated comprises a cooling plate (42), which forms a lateral wall of the housing (41).
