The arrangement has a series resonant circuit comprising an inductive element (L1) coupled to an electrode of a low-pressure discharge lamp (LP) and a capacitor (C3) connected in series with the element and in parallel with the low-pressure discharge lamp. A resistive element (R1) is connected in series with a diode (D2) between a terminal of a direct current voltage source and a positive temperature coefficient thermistor (PTC). An evaluation device (A) taps off voltage drop across the resistive element, and is coupled to a microcontroller in order to deactivate the microcontroller. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a low-pressure discharge lamp with a circuit arrangement.

Bei einer aus der DE 38 49 845 A1 oder der DE 40 05 850 A1 bekannten Schaltungsanordnung wird ein Schaltungszweig mit einem Kaltleiter (PCT) und einer Diode (D1, D2) verwendet, um eine an der Niederdruckentladungslampe (LP) anliegende Spannung zu klemmen, sodass ein Vorheizen ermöglicht ist. Durch das Vorheizen erwärmt sich der Kaltleiter, bis er hochohmig wird, sodass dann eine Zündspannung entstehen kann. Vorliegend wird in den Zweig mit einer Diode (D2) ein Widerstandselement (R1) geschaltet und die an diesem abfallende Spannung durch eine Auswerteeinrichtung (A) erfasst. Überschreitet diese eine vorbestimmte Zeitdauer einen vorbestimmten Schwellwert, wird die Niederdruckentladungslampe (LP) ausgeschaltet. Hierbei wird ausgenutzt, dass bei Überspannungen bei der Niederdruckentladungslampe auch nach dem Zünden ein Strom über den Kaltleiter (PTC) und die Diode (D2) fließt. Somit wird die Niederdruckentladungsalmpe bei Überspannung ausgeschaltet.
