[origin: WO2009104157A1] The support device in machines for manufacturing metal cages, of the type consisting of a series of longitudinal bars made integral through a metal wire spiral wound onto the same bars, comprises a support member (1) suitable to hold the longitudinal bars in the fixing positions for the formation of the cage. The support member (1) comprises a cross member (2) equipped with slots (5) radial to the axis of the cage in formation. On the cross member (2) a series of supports (6) are selectively fixed, having different dimensions and equipped with at least one slot (8) basically circumferential. A plurality of sleeve couplings (9) suitable to receive said longitudinal bars are fixed in adjustable positions in correspondence with anchorage areas (5) of the cross member (2) and of the circumferential slot (8) of said supports (6).
