[origin: AT505932A4] A drying device has at least two successive drying groups, each with heatable drying cylinders (1,2). The first drying cylinder is steam-heated via first heat circulation; the second heating cylinder - via a feed line (5) for a combustible energy source (E), together with a waste-heat removal line (6) for the waste heat formed by combustion of the energy source. A first heat exchanger (7) couples the first heat circulation to the waste heat removal line (6) of the second drying group's drying cylinder (2). An independent claim is given for a method for drying moving material web.
